今天買了一個 vintage Dunhill Unique lift-arm lighter on eBay（古董）

How do you feel for this Dunhill Unique lighter?

I already bought the vintage Dunhill Unique lighter wrapped the black leather with the coat of arm and badge pattern on eBay today. Besides, the international shipping cost from United States to Hong Kong is 68 USD. I feel that this vintage Dunhill Unique lighter is too expensive due to the used condition, but I really favor this Dunhill Unique lighter pattern so much.

The patterns have been divided into four parts as below:
Upper left side: England
Upper right side: Scotland
The following left side: Ireland
The following right side: Wales

I just call the Dunhill specialist store of HK to enquire the maintenance service for Dunhill lighter, the salesman tells me the fact that if my lighter is genuine, Dunhill will offer the maintenance service to customer. If my lighter needs to be changed the new parts, they would quote me the price for consideration. If I don't accept it, they would return back the lighter to me without any cost. It is the best service to customers for this good news.

the product price at the last photo as below  + the international shipping cost from United States to Hong Kong 68 USD = the total amount

This total amount can let me buy another new lighter because I really favor the pattern of this vintage Dunhill Unique lift-arm lighter despite of the used condition. This vintage Dunhill Unique lighter is rare.

Nice. I probably would advise you keep the patina instead of doing an overhaul with Dunhill. As it seemed to be in working condition already as the auction description indicted (not perfectly sure when dealing with US dealers, though), plus I had experience with the service dept. of Dunhill, on a Unique. It could be a lot compared with the value of the lighter, especially when you appeared to be pretty price-conscious ....  
Lucky you that you're not collecting vintage premium vinyls of the time, when a decent collection could hit 3,000-20,000 albums ..., and if you look into the unit cost per album ;-)

先講講我這篇文章用英文寫成，是因為我昨天在 Facebook 上 post 這篇文章是用英文，當中有外國朋友在看，所以用英文，而昨晚突然想到貴站，故顺便 copy and paste 转移过来（不须重新再打字嘛 ）……呵呵。

另外，我買这个Dunhill 打火机是昨天早上，由於被这个火机图案深深地吸引著（英文内容已提及此点），后来上網查找这图案之来历，发现这个图案是屬于 “大英帝国的皇权象徴之臂章纹飾”，想到现今的民法上有版权保护，以前可能没有太嚴格限制可印製在商品上，故现今很難再有同类产品会印上这个大英帝国的皇权纹飾图案，故认為十分稀有。看图片也觉得这个打火机保存完好，並email 向 seller 查询，得知绵芯已被換新及测试过功能正常，所以，才决定買下的。

这个古董 Dunhill 打火机是用 fluid 的（跟美国 Zippo 打火机一样）；而它跟现代外型相似的 Dunhill 同类型打火机用 gas, 是其最大的不同点。

想請教站長您，Dunhill 打火机為什么有些是 made in Switzerland, 而有些 made in England？ 哪一种更為古老？

PS: 我在中港台两岸三地，在各个錄取入学试中也幸运地自学考上而曾經求学过的、並完成学业....……是香港人。

支持香港斗友， 呢個火機好靚， $68美金運費都算貴， 不過小心而家有好美國快遞公司乜鬼都唔送  玻璃， 易燃物品， 試過夠膽死Xbox 360 game都話唔寄香港！不過無論如何， 樓主師兄喜歡呢個火機， 就真塱恭喜覓得心頭好

请教不敢当，打火机本身就是个品类独立、不比烟斗小的大坑，本人并没有深入研究过。有段时间曾经看过一下，细节早已忘得一干二净了。

早期 Unique 确实是烧油的。更现代形态的烧气（丁烷）。印象中好像比较后期的气机才有瑞士做的。我想比较精密的工件加工，瑞士会做得更好。高档打火机量还是太小，成不了独立产业，寄生在珠宝/时计的周边轴承加工厂，在瑞士这种精度的制品可以随随便便做得很好。

打火机甚至 Dunhill Unique 机都有专书介绍，兄若感兴趣不妨深入研究。

我買這個 英國皇權紋飾圖案的 Dunhill unique petrol lift-arm lighter 是在 1920年代 至 1950年代 的古董，二手市場已經很難再找到另一個了，理由是：第一，可能已經用爛、壞掉、焚化爐銷毀………等等，若前人能夠把它保存到現在 2016年，經過了幾十年至上百年歷史的古董打火機像我買這個完好無缺，很難！

再者，現今很多東西的圖案也有版權限制。不像以前沒有那麼嚴格。更何況是「大英帝國的皇權象徵」之圖紋，現今法制完備，豈容許商企胡亂濫用这个「國家皇权图纹」刻印在商品上？！

1945年才結束第二次世界大戰（1939年爆發），1914年爆發第一次世界大戰，這時候經歷兩次世界大戰，到1945年至1980年期間是各國經濟復甦期。

随着社会穩定長期发展，法律完備，各種版權圖紋設計…等等受到民法的版權法保護，而版權法也是在后期建立使其完善起來的，尤其是「国际顶级品牌」依赖后来的国际法把版权法在全球各國統一鞏固起来。

基於以上各点，也由於這個「大英帝國的皇權象徵之圖案」的 Dunhill Unique petrol 打火機 太過吸引我，我才決定把它買下来的。

我在eBay 发现有一个同类型火机是1920's 生产，也是燒油，及 made in Switzerland, 而Dunhill 打火机是在1923年开始，掌陀人与另外兩个partners 合作设计生产。而在1924年才大量生产打火机。这意味着：我在eBay 看到一个 Dunhill unique petrol lighter 在1920's 生产出来（刻有年份），因此，站長您说 “燒氣” 打火机是先 made in England 后 made in Switzerland, 这个無意见；但 Dunhill 燒油打火机的 made in Switzerland 在1920年代已经出现，所以 燒油 vs 燒氣 的 Dunhill 打火机，其 “先England 后 Switzerland” 的邏辑，二者未必相同啊。

奈何在網上我仍然未能找到证据去证明此点邏辑。

補充：

Dunhill 在1956年開始推出新發明 Rollagas 打火機系列。

所以我才說：我買這個 Dunhill Unique petrol lighter 是在20年代至50年代之生產貨品。

因為 Dunhill Unique 系列打火機後來全部改變設計為 gas 而不生產 petrol之設計款式。

而現在 Dunhill 生產的火機，全部是 made in England 啊，不可不察！

以這個 Dunhill 打火機 燒油 為例：made in Switzerland, 1925年製造（看底部刻字）

所以，對于 “燒油” Dunhill 火機 來說，先England 后Switzerland 之說法，不可證明為真理！

但是，對于 “燒氣” Dunhill 火機 來說，先England 后Switzerland 之說法，這個我不清楚，故 no comment。


備註：

強調 - Dunhill unique petrol lighter 在1923年开始与人合作设计生产，1924年才开始正式量产。

我買这个 Dunhill 火机是：英国专利 + 美国专利，made in Switzerland

图中这个 Dunhill 火机是：加拿大专利 + 美国专利，made in Switzerland
