Hey snowman
I just bought a new tin of Rattray's fresh from the factory, and i find that it is as good as aged tobacco.
Many years ago, I was very active in some American pipe forums and several pipe gurus suggested that tobaccos can be aged to attain additional depth and complexity of flavor. I also read that Burley doesn't age well, Virginias sweeten , Latakia mellows and Aromatic turn bland... etc
Some aficionados are always on the lookout for aged tins, some rarities can be expensive. As always, many claim they can always tell the difference and it justifies the price….The truth is there is a lot of hype in the pipe word.
Of course, as in virtually everything about life , opinions do vary.
The one noticeable benefit to cellar tobacco here in Singapore would be the cost of the tobacco almost double in its value in ten years time due to tax and duty.
Further price hikes are coming soon.
