最近几天,一位目前驻留北京的村友在身在海外公干时给在下的一封 email 提起:

"... I wish I could have contributed more but feel really sorry for having not walked the talk. Partly this is because of my laziness, partly because some topics in the village go too technically detailed and which do not make me too excited about. I am not saying we should not have these technical detailed discussions. In fact, these really distinguish the village from other in-kind websites in terms of its comprehensiveness and have attracted lots of folks in the village. What I mean is that I basically play with pipes as toys and do not care too much about the technical side. ..."

I, along with many villagers I contacted off-line (frankly, it's just "some" or "few", because I'm quite a reclusive man), have the same feeling that we should not just go too anal into technical things. It's way too boring in researching the mechanics all day, ignoring the fact that Pipe Smoking is a spiritual ritual. 鞋拔兄这篇文章酝酿已久。前一段时间我路过上海,和鞋拔兄会面时也曾经粗略讨论过这个问题,在不少原则性方面上达成比较一致的看法。我很希望鞋拔兄的原创美文能够引起大家的一些思考。对于所有问题,每个人会有不同的理解和专注,个人认为,如果村子能够出现多些由烟斗衍生出来的形而上的话题 (当然,不是借烟斗为外壳发动肮脏的意识形态斗争那种),这是当初在下建立烟斗村的用心之一。阅读鞋拔兄的这篇美文,我个人感觉到从字里行间散发出一种“无为”的中国古老哲学思路。这一点,我认为我们 (或者我们中的一部分人,甚至可能只是一小撮人) 或许最终都会自然而然地进入一种超然和无为的烟斗 (其实也是做人) 态度。但是,我们也需要过程和过渡,在这过程和过渡的过程中,又必然需要大量的交流和相互启发。闻道有先后,术业的专攻从烟斗村整体的眼光看,是个连绵永无终结的过程。
所以,其实享受『烟斗村』只是享受一种过程罢了,我想。
