Dunhill Tanshell (61034) (1978)

Every once in a while, Dunhill will throw me a curve ball. When I saw this in the tray I first thought GBD or Ashton. To my surprise, it's a Dunhill tanshell. The shape is rather large (it is a group 6) and extends to nearly 7" long. The shape is what some might call a brandy with a flattened bottom and the finish has some very deep reddish-orange hues developing.

下面这个是Ashton Sovereign Bent Billiard (ELX) (1990) (Replacement Stem)

This pipe has seen better days, but is still looking nice in spite of them. The cut and color are great, but the stem is a replacement, plus the tobacco chamber is the result of some reaming happiness. I'm not sure if the band is aftermarket, or not. I'm inclined to think so, but have seen so many accents on Asthons over the years, that I will never lay my chips down. If we are going to bet, though, I might suggest a challenge to see if you can fit 25 grams of tobacco in the bowl. Long smoke anyone?
