KW 5172 is a tough one. The 51 prefix was made in approximately 1931-1938, with a black vulcanite, screw-in stem
The stampings: "Kaywoodie" stamped in script and "Super Grain" on right side of shank and may have a white inlaid clover in the shank over the top of the Kaywoodie stamping. Four digit
number starting with "51" on the left side of the shank.
The next two numbers 72 (SHAPE 72) was a large Canadian, oval stem, manufactured in the years: 1931-1970. So, the best to identify the pipe would be somewhere around 1931-38. Very rare, even among true KW fans.
