I have just received not one, but 2 Christmas greeting cards(showing new car) from the same person. I find it very odd because this guy, whom I have known for years, has never sent me any greeting cards.
He had acquired another new Ferrari , and I think he wanted me to know.I find it very amusing,after all “Merry Christmas” has religious connotations.
Usually the DIY cards will have family portraits, or illustrations and imagery relating to Christmas,religious sayings, or some sincere wishes for a happy holiday to those you care about.
A few thoughts came to my mind:
Do not send photos of Ferrari, it has no meaning.Are you giving me one for Christmas? A friendly call would suffice for any holiday greetings. There is no need to show off during this holiday.
Stop showing me watches, jewellery, up grading to bigger houses, getting new cars, visiting new restaurant, buying more stuff….It is very boring.
Usually these are people who crave attention, instead, go read a book, learn a new language and love a small animal for a change. In the five worded sentence with the card sent over email, he only asked me test drive his new car.I have driven these cars before, some twenty years ago. No thank you.
Last year, I had sent my 4x4 for oil change ( half an hour job), in the workshop I called him.Just a friendly call to say hi, he said he got a twin turbo Bentley sport, want to test drive?I said why not , he said he would be right over.More than four hours later, I assumed that he probably got tied up with work or just forgot the matter.My car was ready and I was hungry, so I left.I got a phone call from him, sounded irritated that I was not at the workshop waiting for him and the Bentley sport.Well too bad… I usually do not wait more than three hours for any inconsiderate people (not an isolated incident).Did I mention I was hungry too.
I remember these people would not hesitate to bang on my door in the middle of the night if they need me. But when they don’t need me, I am just another persona non grata to them.
I have no time to waste and am impatient with such people, woe is me.
Do I tell people they are on my Shit List? Well, not in so many words, but each of these guys know why I refuse to have anything to do with them.That includes me coming out of retirement and working for these assholes.
I asked my wife if I should buy a Ferrari too. Why ? Are you having a mid life crisis? You are too young to have a Ferrari !! Maybe when you are in 80's...….
Wise woman my wife.
