Barling Pipes
The Barling pipe making tradition began in 1812 when silversmith Benjamin Barling began fitting silver mounts to his hand carved meerschaum pipes. The company entered a "modern" phase in 1851 when they began carving pipes out of the marvelous new material of the day, briar. By the turn of the century and right up until the company was sold in 1960, pipe smokers all over the world sought out the name "B. Barling & Sons" knowing they were purchasing one of the sweetest smoking pipes the world has ever known. After a number of changes in location and quality, the Barling stamp today is once again your assurance of a fine smoking pipe made in the grand old English tradition. |
