Secuity
Many people say they work to have security. What exactly does that mean? Security is a false motivator. There are no guarantees in life itself, much less in sales; thus, there is no such thing as security. In fact, you are only as secure as your ability to handle insecurity. Webster says that security is freedom from danger, freedom from fear and anxiety, or freedom from want or deprivation. If that's the case, then none of us has ever been totally secure. I don't care how successful you are. you have experienced fear and want somewhere along the way. Fear and want can even motivate you to achieve. So it isn't the state of being free of these feelings that contributes to security, but rather how we deal with the insecurities that confront us. The key to getting what you want may be the ability to give up what you have. Look at this a little closer. If you are bound and determined that you will never take a chance to further your career, then you may as well get out of sales right you have, then keep it; resign yourself to the knowledge that you will never go much farther up the ladder of success.
Most famous and powerful people who have acquired a great deal of
security or money have also lost as much (if not more) than they have
made. The difference between them and the average worker is that
theywere willing to take the chance in order to become all that they
could be, while average worker is not willing to take the necessary risks.
... You may wonder how you ever find security! Actually, with whatever
semblance of security you ever find will come the knowledge that you
create you own destiny. ...
