To be considered for your collection is this extremely rare Dunhill aquarium lighter miniature „Fox Hunting“ Scene.What makes this lighter so rare is the combination of different facts:
(1) Dunhill aquarium lighters in general are very rare and wanted by many collectors for their collection or as an investment – there is a definitely rising demand for those lighters.
(2) The Size of this lighter (miniature or service size) is not seen as often as the usual aquarium size, which adds to its Rarity.
(3) The third fact is the scene on the lighter. Most Dunhill aquariums show fishes in different styles or maybe birds, but the fox hunting scene is extremely rare and very seldom seen.It is actually so rare that in Davide Blei and Luciano Bottoni book “The Dunhill Petrol Lighter: A ‘Unique’ Story” several designs are show but not this one!!!
Alighter like this one was sold in an auction by Bonhams Lot 1126 in the Sale 15753 - Distinguished Designs - The Work of Asprey, Dunhill and Garrard, 16 Jan 2008” for 4600 Pounds “Hammer Price” without sellers premium. I was told by somebody attending the auction that is was in perfect condition. You can check the sales price on their homepage.
